Canberra Moments - A Family History Adventure
Nineteen enthusiastic members of the society embarked on a memorable four-day adventure to Canberra, filled with both fun and fascinating learning experiences 3rd - 6th March 2025. Traveling by VLine coach and transported by Canberra Guided Tours, our first stop was the National Library of Australia, where we were treated to an insightful session exploring the incredible resources available through Trove. After a delightful morning tea, the library team took us even deeper into the world of the National Library’s vast online offerings.
The day continued with a moving guided tour of the Australian War Memorial, where one of our own was honoured to lay a wreath during the poignant Last Post Ceremony. On our second day, we delved into the vast treasures held by the National Archives of Australia, perfect for any family historian.
In the afternoon, we had the special opportunity to visit Family History ACT, the largest genealogical society in Canberra. We learned about their extensive collection, invaluable instructional resources, and even got a behind-the-scenes glimpse into their library.
After four days of enriching discoveries, 19 tired yet inspired travellers boarded the bus back to Albury Wodonga, eager to apply everything they had learned and continue their family history journey.
