Celebrating National Family History Month
WFHS Winter Social Lunch
On Friday 7th August we held our Winter Social Lunch to celebrate National Family History Month.
A lovely lunch was enjoyed by all at the Wodonga Golf Club Bistro with Janette providing a fun "pass the parcel" game designed to test our family history knowledge.

Volunteer Spotlight
Sue Jarvis
For over ten years, Sue has filled the role as Treasurer working behind the scenes to help our Society to run smoothly. She carries out her role with care, diligence and integrity, always willing to help and never seeking recognition for herself.
Her contribution doesn’t stop there; Sue is also one of our regular research desk volunteers, sharing her time & knowledge to assist members & visitors with their family history enquiries. She is always approachable, patient & supportive.
Sue has just accepted the position of Assistant Treasurer and we thank her for her willingness to continue to serve the members. Thank you Sue for your commitment, generosity and the many hours you have given to the Wodonga Family History Society.
Volunteers like Sue are the heart of our Society.

An Amazing Achievement!
Judy Charlton
Congratulations to our Society's Secretary, Judy Charlton, on the wonderful achievement of completing a Diploma in Family Historical Studies from the Society of Australian Genealogists (SAG).
This is a significant milestone that reflects many hours of dedicated study, careful research and a genuine passion for uncovering and preserving her family’s story. We are delighted to celebrate this well-deserved accomplishment and are proud to have such a knowledgeable and enthusiastic researcher among our members.
To receive the award, Judy submitted a 20,000 word genealogy thesis on three (3) generations of her maternal line - her mother, grandmother and great grandmother. In addition, she completed a 3-hour examination receiving a High Distinction for both the thesis and the exam.
Judy reflected on her achievement: "Completing the thesis was a wonderful way to ensure my family history research was disciplined, and that the sources were of high quality and cited accurately. On completion, I printed off a bound copy of the thesis for all my siblings and my children. Hence I have now ensured that my female ancestors stories are recorded for posterity."
